We’re excited and honored to announce the shipment of two custom Single Ton ChlorTainer vessels complete with custom loader systems for the United States Army.

The Army will use ChlorTainer’s passive secondary containment system for the long-term storage of 1-ton and 150 lb. cylinders of potentially hazardous chemicals for ongoing remediation efforts from WWII containers. This unique implementation of our system is the first time an organization has elected to use ChlorTainer vessels for storage rather than for chemical processing.

In addition to collaborating remotely, David L. Lambert, Program Manager (Chemical Ammunition) CIV USARMY CMA (USA), and John D. Robbins, Project Supervisor CIV USARMY CMA (USA) visited our manufacturing facility on the West Coast and were provided a tour of the City of Benicia, California’s water treatment plant to see our vessels in use firsthand. A requirement for conducting business with the US Army necessitated that we register as an approved vendor with “The System for Award Management” (SAM.Gov), a process that took nearly two months to complete. This commission’s design was finalized in May of 2023, the PO was received in November of 2023, and the vessels were shipped in December of 2023.

ChlorTainer complies with the Build America, Buy America Act, ensuring the highest standards are met. Our vessels have a life expectancy of no less than 100 years, given proper maintenance, and are built to ASME pressure vessel standards. This ensures that material within the vessel can be stored for long or short-term storage or processing, keeping operators and the surrounding community safe.

We are looking forward to providing many more Ton and 150 lbs. ChlorTainer vessels to the Army and appreciate the opportunity to provide superior chemical safety to those who serve our country.
